Our OFFER
Our 'bread and butter' is providing a high quality programme of education for all students. However, we have students with us for varying lengths of time depending on their need and like to think our programmes work on a 'continuum' - if a child enters our programme at an earlier age our hope for them is that they maintain their place in their mainstream school, until the end of their phase of education, but might join us from time to time for some alternative provision.
Our programmes include:
- PIONEERS (primary school age 5-11): students who have been permanently excluded from school or who have come to us for short-term intervention from their mainstream school (they may be also be attending their own school)
- BRIDGES (primary and secondary school age 5-16): students needing support in their own schools - the support is provided to the student, the teachers who work with the students or the leadership team interested in developing inclusive practice or alternative provision in their own schools
- ON COURSE (secondary age - year 7&8) - 4 week programme, early intervention
- DISCOVERY (secondary age - year 7/8/9): students who have been permanently excluded from school and referred for provision by the local authority. Students are with us for a period of 8-10 weeks and then we support reintegration for two weeks when students move on to another school. Discovery places are periodically available for occupation by students who are at risk of exclusion in their schools; these places are distributed via IYFAP as they are commissioned by the LA.
- BASE KS3 (year 9) SHORT-TERM/LONG-TERM: students in year 9 who are not ready to move on to a new school or who have twice been permanently excluded and with us for a longer spell. Provision takes place at one of our main bases in Oxford or Banbury.
- BASE KS4 SHORT-TERM (year 10/11): approx 8 weeks; for students who have been permanently excluded and are being reintegrated back into a new school.
- BASE KS4 LONG-TERM (year 10/11): 12 weeks+ - students who will be with us until the end of year 11 due to a permanent exclusion, and not ready for a return to mainstream education, or students who are on dual-roll with us and their mainstream school in order to prevent permanent exclusion
- FLO (Foundation Learning Opportunities - year 8/9): students are with us 1 or 2 days a week on dual-roll with their mainstream school. Students study Entry Level and Level 1 qualifications either in preparation for vocational study in year 10/11 or as an engagement and skills building opportunity
- SCHOOL ENGAGEMENT PROGRAMME (SEP - year 9/10/11): students are with us 1 or 2 days a week on dual-roll with their mainstream school in order to prevent further exclusion from school. Students usually study vocational/technical subjects and remain engaged with their home school.
- LINK WORK: a specialist mentor programme available to schools to support students in years 7-10 who are at risk of exclusion from school. This Link Workers on this programme will provide bespoke support for school working with students on a 1-1 basis on areas such as: low self-esteem, self-management of behaviour, building resilience, personal learning skills.
