OPEN DAY 30 MARCH 2019
We held an open day on Saturday 30 March for ex-students, teachers, staff or Harlow School and Marston Middle School.
Over 250 came to see the school for one last time before it is demolished in May to make way for the Swan School to be built. Meadowbrook College move into the front half of the building until September 2020 when they will move into their new school on the bottom of the Meadow. It was a pleasure to see so many happy faces on Saturday as they met old friends, colleagues, teachers and reminisced as they re-lived fun times when they were at school anything from 15 to 55 years ago. We talked to a man & wife who met at Marston School in 1963 and are still together. Sue Davis, Science & Maths enjoyed bringing back lots of memories from photographs and friends. Neil Durrant - ex Science teacher ( 1973-80) at Harlow School (named after the first Chair of Governors) recalled this was one of only three teaching jobs he held and the one he loved the most. A student taught by Neil between 1977-80 recalled gaining an award for his art work and running off to the tuck shop and up and down the tower block - something a few ex-students re-lived on Saturday! Photos to follow!
